Designer Velvet Underglazes
Designer Velvet Underglazes-Lead Free 2 oz.
Designer Velvets are semi-translucent underglazes that have the same distinction as the original Velvet Line with the addition of small specks. When left unglazed, they assume the appearance of velvet or velour with a soft speckle effect. When glazed with AMACO Transparent Matte or Clear Glazes, they intensiify slightly in color. Designer Velvet colors can be used on greenware or bisque. Recommended bisque firing range is Cone 04, but Designer Velvets tolerate a wide firing range with recommended firing temperature being that of the clay used.
AMACO Designer Velvets should not be used on surfaces which come in contact with food or drink, if left unglazed. AMACO clear glazes LG9, F10 and HF9 or any other dinnerware safe glaze are recommended to be used over AMACO Designer Velvets to make them dinnerware safe.

Temperature and Color Variation Chart
AMACO underglazes can be used and fired to the temperature of the clay on which they are used. However, some colors may change, fade away partially or entirely disappear when used at mid range or high temperatures. The color chips show the colors when they are fired to Cone 05 on an earthenware body. To assist you with the choice of colors when working in stoneware or porcelain, click on the link below for charts describing how AMACO Velvet and LUG colors will appear when fired to Cone 5 and Cone 10.
To use the table for Designer Velvets (DV) and Velvet-1-Strokes (V-1-S), remove the "1" from in front of the V-1-S series number or the "3" in front of the DV series number and find that number on the Velvets table to find the color change at Cones 5 and 10.
